2020 Year-End Update

year end update header

Dear Friend of Quakertown Community Center,

Thank you for being a friend to the Quakertown Community Center (QCC). We count it a privilege to be able to provide a positive place for teenagers in our community to connect and grow. As 2020 comes to an end, we reflect on all that God has done through you:

  • We had a great start to the year and then we were shut down by the pandemic.  We were able to keep in contact with many of our kids through social media. Through the hard work of our board and volunteers we were able open again in September.
  • The DROP remains a central hub of hope, creativity, healing, and acceptance for teenagers and young adults in Quakertown area.  This allows us to be in their world.
  • Being in their world and having gained their trust we have been able to be present to deal with bullying situations.  We have been present to help resolve disputes.
  • We continue to work with a great group of volunteers who have passion for our kids and devote their time to be with the kids and keep our facility clean.

We love reflecting on all of this, but what we absolutely love to focus on is how, with your help, youth and young adults ARE developing their passions, gifts, and potential in a safe and welcoming environment.  This is community.  This is you. This is life change.

As we come to the close of 2020, would you consider a financial gift to the Quakertown Community Center to allow for more stories of life change in 2021?  We recently heard this from Jennifer, a parent of a high school student that comes to the DROP . . .

“My family and I are so very thankful for the Drop here in Quakertown.  At first, we had no idea where our son was going every Wednesday after school.  When we did ask, he would say, “Mom, it’s a place where us kids can chill, and they have volunteers to watch us.  “It’s been 3 years now and my son continues to go every time they are opened.  My son who was brand-new to the community started new friendships, learned independence, and gained confidence all from going to the Drop.
The Drop was not just a hang out place for kids and teens to go to.  We discovered the Drop to be a place where out son can go to and be safe.  Somewhere where out youth can meet others and hang out.  My son especially loves that they have snacks and drinks too.  The volunteers are amazing.  They are helping our youth.  Guiding them, chatting or simply just being a friend to them.  Again, we are so immensely proud and grateful that we have the Drop in our community!  It is not only helpful but uplifting!”  – Jennifer

Would you help us make this a Christmas to remember?

We cannot do this important work without you, and we know that your support is what stands in the gap for the teenagers that we serve.  Your end-of-year gift will keep THE DROP open all year.

Thank you for your support of the Quakertown Community Center.  We could not do this without you.

Merry Christmas,
